First international piano competition in Gothenburg

Gothenburg Piano Festival organizes the first edition of an international piano competition for young pianists which will take place during the Gothenburg Piano Festival at the concert hall, on a fine concert grand piano and an extraordinary concert hall.

This is to encourage young pianists and preserve the fantastic piano culture and musical heritage, to carry on the classical music of the time.

A meeting place where pianists can inspire each other and play wonderful music.

The piano festival wants to build bridges between countries through music, establish exchanges

and pass on the piano culture to the next generation.

This year we will focus on piano music by Swedish composers to celebrate the Swedish composer

150th anniversary Wilhelm Stenhammar, but also discover music by other Swedish composers.

Welcome to our first international piano competition. Open to all nationalities.

The deadline is expanded to 1st of August.

You will receive an email about the decision no later than 5 August.

We will be a group of piano teachers who listen through all submitted entries

and take into account repertoire and other.

​

The competition / piano festival takes place between 20-22 August at the concert hall in Gothenburg.

For three days, in addition to the competition, the program will be filled with teaching,

lecture and festival concert with award ceremony.
