Gothenburg International Piano Competition 2024

Age 9-16 years

The age applies on the day the final competition will take place. e.g. if you are 8 years old and turn 9 exactly on the day of the final, it counts as 9 years. However, if you turn 17 on the day of the final, this does not apply. So you should be 16 years old on the final day.

Category A: 9-11 years

Semi-final: video recording playing time: max 5 minutes

Final: On location in Gothenburg playing time: max 8 min

Category B: 12-13 years

Semi-final: video recording playing time: max 8 minutes

Final: On location in Gothenburg playing time: max 10 minutes

Category C: 14-16 years Semi-final: video recording playing time: max 10 minutes

Final: On location in Gothenburg playing time: max 16 minutes

Before the semi-final round, send a video recording (with good quality of sound and image)  according to the time duration categories.

A program should show a varied piano playing that shows different characters, musicality and technique.

We encourage you to play a composer from Sweden or from the Czech Republic.

The result of those who have progressed to the final will be announced and you will receive an answer via email no later than August 15, 2024.

The final round is expected to take place in early September 2024. ​
